Low Carb Tuna Waffles

Writer's picture: CrazyChewyGoodCrazyChewyGood

This low-carb recipe offers a delightful and healthy way to incorporate protein and healthy fats into your diet. Chunk tuna, an affordable and adaptable protein, becomes even more enjoyable when served as waffles.

Cooking Tips

  • Tuna. You can replace the tuna in this recipe with any protein like salmon, crab, or chicken. Starkist Tuna Creations offer a delightful way to enhance flavor. I like the Lemon Pepper flavor because it provides excellent flavor without being overwhelming, allowing me to experiment with different toppings. Additionally, it’s flavorful enough that extra lemon juice, salt, and pepper aren’t necessary.

  • Toppings. I love toppings. These waffles are great on their own with a dipping sauce if you prefer such as a lemon aioli but I love adding on fun toppings to give it some flair. Such as smoked salmon with cucumbers and capers, guacamole with a lovely sunny side up egg and fresh tomatoes, or just straight up avocado with a sprinkle of everything bagel seasoning. The sky's the limit!

  • Waffle Iron. Don't have a waffle iron? You can pan fry these up as well. If you don't mind the carbs, this is a great way to make a beef alternative sandwich between two buttery buns!
